Gesturing into Consciousness is a juried exhibition that includes the work of alumni from the School of Visual Arts. It consists of two exhibitions: an onsite exhibition of work shown in the Edwin W. Zoller and Borland Galleries, and an online exhibition of over 150 artworks submitted by Sova alumni. The goal of these exhibitions is to reconnect with the extraordinary former students who have become major forces in their communities since leaving Penn State. Heather Darcy Bhandari, (MFA-1999) co-author of Art/Work and co-director of Mixed Greens Gallery, NYC and Ann Tarantino (MFA-2001), Coordinator of the John M. Anderson Visiting Artist Program, Assistant Professor of Art and Landscape Architecture, and former Assistant to the Director of the Drawing Center, NYC, were invited by curator Professor Emerita Micaela Amateau Amato to jury the exhibition and facilitate the additional alumni events in the collaboration with the SoVA Alumni Group.
